FAHAMU Records is an independent imprint founded in 2026 by Oliver Meier — a Basel-based producer and party-runner whose ear was shaped between rural Tanzania, the Klangstoff underground and a short-lived minimal label called MDOMO.
We release music that refuses to choose. Minimal and techno from the European basement years, hip-hop from cassette tapes that were never thrown out, and the rural East African rhythms that taught some of us to dance before we could talk. The conviction is simple: genre is a marketing problem, not a musical one.
Our debut release is UNITY by EYWA — eleven songs across seven languages, tuned to 432 Hz, sequenced as a single 79-minute breath from sunset to dawn. Out 29 May 2026.

Oliver Meier was born in Bournemouth, UK, to Swiss parents and raised in rural Tanzania until he was ten — barefoot childhood, cassette radio, Swahili in his mouth before he had words for half of what was around him. The family returned to Switzerland and he came of age in the Basel underground, which is where the music actually began.
First hands on a pair of turntables in Reinach with Mehmet Arslan and Garcon. Many crazy nights with Mario Robles. Years on the Klangstoff crew with Alain Szerdaheli, Dario Rorbach, Tigran and Michael Berszelly throwing illegal techno open-airs across the city. A brief chase of the deep end of minimal as MDOMO Records. A regular on the early Private Fiction dancefloor with DJ Adriano.
FAHAMU Records is where that conviction now lives. Releasing UNITY — his daughter Moana's debut album — on his own label is the first time the music, the family and the work all sit in the same room.
